Day 1: Discover Budapest’s Beauty

*Morning: Explore the charming Buda Castle District. Visit the Fisherman’s Bastion for breathtaking views of the Danube River and the Parliament building. Enjoy the small but beautiful Fisherman’s Bastion Christmas Market.
*We recommend:
1) Ride the funicular from the castle to Adam Clark Square
2) Sample local cuisine such as stuffed cabbage, langos, and goulash.
3) Buy a chimney cake from one of the shops on the way from Fisherman’s Bastion to Buda Castle.

*Afternoon: Stroll across the iconic Chain Bridge (also known as the Szechenyi Chain Bridge) and visit St. Stephen’s Basilica. Marvel at its neoclassical architecture and enjoy panoramic views of the city from its dome.

*Evening: Immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere of the Budapest Christmas Market by Basilica and the Vorosmarty Square Christmas Market. Sip on mulled wine, indulge in delicious Hungarian treats, and admire the beautiful decorations.

*NOTE: If you are struggling for time then try the Budapest Big Bus Tours, with 18 stops at some of the most popular locations.

Day 2: Explore Budapest’s History & Culture

*Morning: Take a guided tour of the Hungarian Parliament Building. Learn about the country’s history and admire the ornate interiors. Remember to book this in advance as it gets extremely busy. Visit Shoes on the Danube Memorial before strolling through Liberty Square, with its iconic statues.

*Afternoon: Visit the House of Terror to gain a deeper understanding of Hungary’s tumultuous past. Take a stroll around Heroes’ Square and then ice skate in City Park before relaxing in the luxurious Szechenyi Thermal Baths (book in advance).

Evening: Visit New York Cafe for a one of a kind dinner (make a reservation in advance) and experience the city’s ruin bars after. We’d also recommend visiting Hotsy Totsy, a cocktail bar, for a great vibe and awesome cocktails.

Day 3: A Festive Farewell

Morning: Explore the Jewish Quarter and Palace District before visiting the Central Market Hall (also called Great Market Hall) to sample local delicacies. .

Afternoon: Enjoy Christmas shopping in Budapest City Centre or take a walk to the Citadel to be rewarded with beautiful views of the city.

Evening: Take a relaxing boat cruise on the Danube River and admire the city’s stunning skyline.
