Why Visit Lauterbrunnen?

Spectacular Waterfalls

Lauterbrunnen is known for its 72 waterfalls, the most famous being Staubbach Falls, which plunges nearly 300 meters from a cliff above the village. Another highlight is Trümmelbach Falls, a series of impressive underground waterfalls carved into the mountain. These are fed by the melting glaciers of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains.

Lauterbrunnen is a gateway to some of the top alpine attractions. You can easily visit Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe, which offers incredible panoramic views of the Aletsch Glacier and surrounding peaks. Alternatively, a trip to Schilthorn, famous for its revolving restaurant and views from the James Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, is another must-do.

Lauterbrunnen retains a traditional Swiss charm, with wooden chalets, alpine farms, and picturesque village streets. Nearby villages like Wengen, Mürren, and Gimmelwald are easily accessible and are perfect for exploring the authentic Swiss alpine lifestyle.

Valley Hikes

Lauterbrunnen is surrounded by some of Switzerland’s most famous hiking routes. The hike from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg offers stunning views of waterfalls, alpine meadows, and glaciers. Another famous trail is the route from Mürren to Gimmelwald, a relatively easy hike with gorgeous mountain vistas.

Paragliding
